Byond Books was established in 2021 by Timika Barnes, with the help and support of her incarcerated brother. Her personal experiences with family incarceration revealed the emotional challenges of separation and the profound importance of maintaining family bonds. “Connection should never end at the prison walls,” she says. “It is through these meaningful connections that we preserve dignity and create a bridge toward a brighter future.” What began as a simple desire to send a photo book to her incarcerated brother has evolved into a mission-driven business dedicated to helping families stay connected and individuals prepare for successful reintegration. Today, Byond Books serves more than 200 families, expanding its reach through educational publications and reentry resources.
